Alexander’s will hold the last pop-up farmers market of the spring season Sunday, June 5, 2016, from 10-2. JD Farms of Poplarville, Miss., will be our featured farmer with fresh blueberries. In addition, Pennington Biomedical Research Center will be sampling healthy recipes and handing out healthy eating tips while Tin Roof Brewery Co. and Mystic Vines sample craft beer and wine to the backdrop of live music in our courtyard area.“We’re more than a grocery store,” says Lathan Alexander, owner of Alexander’s Highland Market.
“Life is fast-paced. People crave community and a chance to slow down a bit,” Alexander continued. “From weekend pop-ups to wine dinners to wellness classes, we give folks a place to gather around good, healthy food.”
Alexander also notes that folks in South Louisiana place a premium on fresh food grown and produced locally, which tends to be better for you and better for the environment. “Eating local is not a passing fad,” he adds. “It’s a way of life.
