For the third consecutive year Alexander’s Highland Market’s floral team was a stunning presence at the Dining by Design gala on Sunday, Oct. 30, 2016, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel to benefit the Cypress Springs Mercedarian Prayer Center. Former floral manager Glenna Bethay and assistant floral manager Angel King fashioned tablescapes celebrating this year’s theme, “God’s Mercy Covers All,” with a spectacular variety of purple flowers surrounding a white ceramic cross and a crown of thorns.
Dining by Design is a premier community event that invites chefs from across the country to serve tables decorated by local florists and designers. The gala includes a silent auction, a parade of chefs and designers, as well as testimonies from families aided by Sister Dulce and her healing ministry. The local event is the brainchild of Chef John Folse, who was inspired by Chef Bert P. Cutino, a friend from Monterey, Calif., who founded the Meals on Wheels Culinary Classique. The event has now been duplicated in many states across the country. Chef Cutino and Chef Folse prepared meals at the tables designed by Alexander’s Highland Market.
